Everyday tips for ‘Earth Day’

Ery’day is Earth Day

Although April 22nd marked the international recognition of our planet, at CHOMP, everyday is Earth Day. But what is Earth Day, you ask? Earth Day is celebrated globally as a day to honour and recognise the remarkable beauty of our home. A global movement to help highlight the importance of environmental protection, let's all inspire each other to help cease the damaging impacts of our actions.

This week, we encourage you to put on your armours and become Earth Warriors. Here are some tips on taking care of Mother Nature that should become part of our daily habits & rituals, as well as other actions to make that take a step further when there is more time:

  1. Switch off the lights when they are no longer needed (i.e. when leaving a room)

  2. Don't let the water run, rather turn off the faucet when not in use (i.e. when brushing teeth)

  3. Reduce, reuse, recycle - in this order of importance. Let's all play an active role in reminding ourselves if we really need something or just want it. Secondly, reuse it as much as you can before discarding it (if possible). And lastly, recycle it once it reaches its full lifecycle. Check out our previous post on how to reduce packaging waste. NB: why not also reduce more food waste by making CHOMP part of your habits when ordering food?

  4. Buy local

  5. Offer your time (i.e. volunteer to plant trees around HK or gather a group of friends/family to start cleaning up our beaches)

  6. Last one, spread the message!

The Earth Day organisation shares over 50 tips to help you participate in the movement. Here is the link if you want to learn more!
