5 tips on using aquafaba

Aqua what? Yes you heard right, aqua F-A-B-A. Also known as the brine/water in which chickpeas or other pulses have been stored/cooked. This was a first for us for sure. After celebrating International Hummus Day on Saturday (13th of May), we did some chickpea-king around the web and discovered this novelty of an ingredient.

To our surprise, chickpea brine/water is way more versatile than just being discarded down the drain (totally joking of course). But really, we had no idea how many incredible vegan alternatives it can provide and how diverse it is! Truly another great ingredient ambassador for our zero-waste motto. In the cooking world, it acts as egg whites replacement for vegans and even non-vegans. Aquafaba has this amazing ability to imitate the properties of egg whites and can be used as a direct alternative for meringues, marshmallow and more. To read up more about it, check out this blog that explores the ingredient further.

Here we share some mouthwatering recipes that are so good, they will make you hummus a song out of joy.
